Polish Heritage Day
HoPEC has proudly taken part in Polish Heritage Days (PHD) since 2020. The organisation values this annual celebration as an opportunity to highlight the importance of shared history and the deep cultural connections between Poland and the United Kingdom. Through its participation, HoPEC aims to show the local community how Polish history, heritage, and traditions intertwine with the wider story of British society, fostering mutual understanding and respect. Polish Heritage Days is an annual festival organised under the patronage of the Polish Embassy in London. The initiative promotes and celebrates Polish culture, the legacy of past generations, and the contributions of Polish people to the cultural, economic, and social life of the United Kingdom. The official symbol of the festival is the red-and-white chequerboard used by Polish pilots during the Battle of Britain — a historic emblem which, thanks to the Embassy’s efforts, has become an informal symbol of Poles in the UK.
